Objectives:
Our client, an automatic processing lines manufacturer, ask us to collaborate in the engineering of a feeding and stacking line for plasterboard, with the programming and fine-tuning of part of the installation.
This assignment is a consequence of the successful execution of a similar project in the USA, which significantly increased the client’s production capacities, and in which we participated by programming and fine-tuning.
Milestones:
- Set-up of the product stacker/feeder. This involves:
- Configure and test the electrical panel hardware. Decentralized I/O, servo drives, Yaskawa drives, STRATIX managed Switches, etc.
- Program the Rockwell control PLC by using the STUDIO 5000 Logix Designer platform, according to the operating loads notebook described.
- Real acceptance tests with the client, prior to sending the machines to their destination.
- Fine-tuning at the end customer’s facilities, which are in process.
The great milestone of this automation has been the realization of a PLC programming that solves the automation contemplating the multiple working modes of the installation (Feeder Mode, Stacker mode, Gaps Filling Mode), changing modes without stopping the line, and all this according to the demands made from a master PLC that knows the availability of the line downstream of the feeder/stacker.
This flexibility is only possible after having carried out an efficient and adequate PLC program design, with high-level function grapcets, which allow quick modifications to be made in the future, work carried out by our INISA Engineers.
