Objetives:
Our client, an iron, steel and metal foundry, requests our collaboration in exporting data from several S7-300 PLCs to be saved in CSV on a data server, which will then be evaluated.
Without having the original project, an ETH card is added to a PLC installed 25 years ago for communication and programming. From the other PLC, the data is collected by an ETH card already available, with the cadence requested by the client.
Our Industrial IT department develops a .NET application for the entire management, which is installed on a fanless industrial mini-PC, with future modifications being handled remotely.

Siemens: Step 7, PLC 300. Communication channel, ETH.

Process:
The mini-PC installed inside the electrical cabinet collects information from the 2 PLCs. Data is read from one of the PLCs every 3 minutes and from the other every end of milling event, with a total of about 200 variables, which can be expanded.
In addition, a weighted average of all the read values is performed, filtering them. Finally, all the information is exported to CSV for further analysis.

It is a valid application for various PLC communication protocols, PLC series from SIEMENS, OMRON, etc. supporting communication variables defined for each PLC.
