At Inisa Automation, we continue to drive the modernization of industrial lines through the advanced integration of robotic technologies. On this occasion, we have carried out a full upgrade project on a palletizing system with KUKA robots, migrating from the KRC2 controller to the new KRC5 platform, which is significantly more powerful, secure, and efficient.
Palletizing process optimization
The robot picks up refractory material from a roller conveyor and then stacks it onto pallets. During the project, several key improvements were implemented:
- Pneumatic system upgrade of the robot, migrating to fully Profinet-based control, achieving more robust and flexible communication.
- Increased picking capacity: the system has moved from handling 4 units to 6 units per cycle, significantly boosting process productivity.
- Programming platform migration, upgrading the TIA Portal environment from V15 to V17, ensuring greater compatibility, performance, and future maintainability.
Thanks to these enhancements, the customer benefits from a faster solution with reduced maintenance requirements and a system ready for many years of industrial operation.
